Happy Birthday Buddy!
Today is my nephew's birthday....12 years old. He is the only "boy" out of the kids...poor thing has to deal with a sister and then 3 cousins, all girls ~ and redheads to boot!
He is...and has been since day one...My Buddy! Where does the time go? I remember these days like they were yesterday!
My niece took this picture of him yesterday, she says he looks like a chipmunk! Aaaah sibling love!

Wise Words.....from Madonna?
"Only the one who hurts you, can make you feel better."
"Only the one that inflicks the pain, can take it away."
Perhaps I should explain. Perhaps I should not. Perhaps I should seek counseling.
Today would have been the 11th anniversary for me and my EX. I was hoping to not even notice the date, I was lucky to not realize it last year.
But not lucky this year, I wrote out a check this am and it slapped me right in the face....4/24

Thought I would just give it a fleeting thought, pity myself for a few minutes, and that would be the end of it. But nooooo, I go to my sister's house today for my nephew's birthday and BASH--BANG--SLAP!
MY OWN FAMILY has to remind me of this! WTF? Is this really necessary? Christ even I know when to keep my mouth shut! I had to get a comment of "what could have been" ~~ Jesus Christ why dont you just give me a Happy NonAnniversary Cake!
Sometimes I really wonder if I am EVER going to get over this.

Television
I'm totally pissed off at the television tonight! T.O.T.A.L.L.Y!
My Damn Yankees, they lost again. They are in LAST F-*ng PLACE.
That in itself will put me in a foul mood~~unless you have ever met me, you just can't understand why I'm sure. But take my word for it.
So I flip on over to CBS for the Amazing Race which I rarely ever watch. WaaaWaaaaWaaaa. Why is everyone whining on this program? Why?
First I can't stand Rob & Amber, never could even on Survivor. Then there are "the boys" good God ~ even when they aren't crying, it sounds like they are. The elder couple, I like them alot!
Then there was the black couple. I saw where the lady was getting her head shaved. Are people REALLY that vain? What was she crying about? Its only hair! HAIR! BooHoo, stop your crying over it. She actually looked good! And her hubby/boyfriend/SO/whatever was very supportive I thought.
I tell you what, if someone said to me you have a chance of winning a nice chunk of $$ if you shave your head ~ I'd say "Where do I sit and should I bring my own buzzer or razor"
I would shave me head in a heartbeat. I would shave my head for charity if asked! I would shave my head for "hire" if the opportunity came along. I would. Its only hair. I'm not vain at all.
But this is the part of television today & tonight that really upset me the most.....

As some may know from previous comments in the last couple of weeks, I'm not exactly religious. I'm baptized Catholic. But thats it. Never received communion or confirmation....Like "those" are the reasons I can't get married in the church in this country! (Regroup, save that thought for another day) I havent been to church on a regular basis since I was in my very early teens.
I do, however, realize that the passing of Pope John Paul II was a BIG deal in the world. I followed the coverage of his failing health. I watched in the days that followed his death. I watched almost all of the funeral service too.
For the past 2 days I have heard bits and pieces of the voting for a new Pope. Fine I understand a new Pope is needed. I understand its important to the world and such.
BUT....do we have to have continuous coverage of a smoke stack? Do we have to have all the news stations changing their normal schedule of shows to fill 3-4-5-6-10 hours straight about the new Pope? I dont think so.
Today, April 19th 2005, is the 10th Anniversary of the bombing in Oklahoma City. You know in the good old USA. Where 168 people ~ 19 of them children under five years old ~ were murdered!
I find it sickening that no network....no cable news station...spent apart of their prime time to honor these people. I'm not saying to pry into their relatives current lives. But I'm sure there was a memorial service in OC today and its appauling to me that it did not receive airtime this pm.
I'm sure there are some survivors, some relatives of victims, and some emergency workers who find this lack of rememberance as a slap in the face. I for one certainly do.
RIP.

Pink or Blue....We don't really give a rat's A$$
Oh yippee, Britney is having a baby. Oops, I guess she "did it again" ~ or at least once.
Oh double yippee, Jen is Godmother to Courtney's little Coco. Does Coco shoot out little pure white poops like mini marshmellows?
Does anyone really give a diaper full of baby crap about this? Does it have to be the top stories on the 10pm news?
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Something is seriously wrong here
The following is totally stolen from MSNBC.com (my favorite news station~ thought I would mention that just incase some employee there reads this and a lawsuit against me begins)
Seriously, I love the station. I Love Dan A. I love Headliners & Legends. I adore Keith O. and I really do gravitate to MSNBC when something important is happening in the world.
Anyway, the following is taken from their website and was written by Dan (God I remember him on Court TV during the OJ trial) The following subject was also on Keith's show last week.
Tell me this is not "THE" most hysterical~in a sad way~thing you have seen!

Who knew you might have to pay to make a PB&J? I'm not talking about the $5 for the tub of peanut butter and $3 for the jelly. According to Smuckers, if you make the sandwich their way, you owe them a lot more than that.
Today, a federal appeals court began considering Smuckers' argument that it has a patent on what it considers innovative technology worthy of protection by the U.S. government: how to make a PB&J.
So, you ask, how has Smucker's so revolutionized the creation of America's favorite sandwich, such that they should get a piece of every sandwich you make?
Smucker's puts peanut butter on both slices of bread and then puts the jelly in the middle to prevent the fruity spread from seeping onto the bread. It then takes the crust off the bread and seals the sandwich to create the “uncrustable.”
I guess that means that I am entitled to a patent for what I like to call “Dan's grilled cheese. “ I put a slice of American on one side, a slice of Swiss on the other, and then I wait to put on the tomato and lettuce until after it's grilled so the veggies don't get hot.
Come on. What if the guy who first decided to add marshmallow fluff to the peanut butter sandwich thought he might be violating a patent? There would be no such thing as a fluffernutter. And remember those Reese's peanut butter cup ads where the guy with the chocolate accidentally falls into the woman with the peanut butter and alas, a peanut butter Reese emerges. No patent there.
Smuckers' arrogance over the “uncrustable” is not extending to claiming they invented PB&J—just that they perfected it. Smuckers credits American GI's fighting in World War II with the idea of first mixing the two together. Its legal case specifically targets Albie's Foods Inc., which also sells crustless PB&J in supermarkets. So maybe the rest of us with an uncontrollable appetite for the uncrustable are safe.
But lunch box lovers, be aware, stick to the basics. Slop your peanut butter on one side and jelly on the other. Let it seep, let it soak. And don't cut the crust off! And whatever you do, don't try and sell it at a bake sale, because that will make it a Smuckers sandwich. If they hear about it, you could be stuck with more than peanut butter on the roof of your mouth.

For all who read and commented on the "Playing Cupid" subject over by
Laura ~ I just want to say THANK YOU! There are alot of GREAT folks here.
However, since I had no proposals I have resorted to use the following away message on my AOL account.
Sex is like poker. If you don't have a partner...well you better have a really strong hand!

Pets & Dads
Everyone has had um at one time or another in their lives, right?
When I was growing up we had a dog, Snoopy of course cause he was a beagle. But he was "my brother's dog", just ask him. He was a good dog.
He lived outside in his little house. He always wanted to be outside no matter what the weather was like. I can remember growing up there being lots and lots of snow storms here in NJ. We would get like a foot at a time of snow. No matter how hard or how often we tried to keep him in the house during foul weather, he would also want to go back to "his house"

Snoopy lived a
very long life here with us. He was almost 20 when we had to put him down. I remember it like yesterday, my Mom was taking him to the vet with my brother. They tried to do it while I was not home, but it didnt work out that way. I'm really the only animal lover in this family, or so it seems to me.
I came home to find my brother carrying Snoopy to the car where my Mom was waiting. I screamed and yelled and cried and basically said ALOT of terrible things to both my Mom & brother.
The year I graduated from grammar school a few friends got me a kitten. My Dad FREAKED out and said "no way" to keeping the kitten. No more pets! NO WAY. NO HOW. NO IF'S. NO AND'S. NO BUT'S. Ooooh really I'm thinking? Well my Mom's mother was here for the big graduation and I told her about the kitten and Dad's reaction. LOL, fast forward, that cat lived with us for 15 years!
When I got the kitten and knew for sure he was staying, I had to pick a name. So being the "smart" 12 or 13 yr old I was, I asked the kitten what he wanted to be called. Yup, named him MEOW.
Oh how my Dad hated that cat. He was always telling it to shutup. He was constantly throwing slippers and pillows at it when it entered the living room crying out its name.
About 13 yrs ago my Dad had a heart attack, 3 actually in one night, and had to be in the hospital for 2 weeks. He had bypass surgery. While he was in the hospital, I had to take Meow and have him put to sleep. At the time, it was the hardest thing I ever did. I held him while the vet gave him the needle. I sat on the floor with him while the drugs took effect. He crawled up in my lap and went to sleep, forever. In those days, you could bring your animals home with you, he is buried in the yard next to Snoopy and an array of hamsters and such.
Laura drove me that night. She was a rock for me that night. Although as the years went by, she told me that if "I EVER" asked her to do that again, she would slap me silly! I believe her.
The next day I went to see my Dad in the hospital and told him what I had to do. My dad, the Archie Bunker wannabe that he is, bawled like a baby! I was shocked and started to cry too. To this day, I'm not sure if I cried for the passing of my cat or if I cried cause I felt that I had hurt my Dad.
Even today while I'm in my 40's I dont find it any easier to lose a pet. I have a friend who has a cat that is both very old and sick. I feel terrible for her and the decisions she will have to make soon. She has 2 cats that are elderly. I use to pet sit them when they were here in NJ. They are both great and I love them. I'm sure they loved me too, cause I got all kinds of dead/semi dead goodies brought to me while I pet sat over the years.
Now I have a pet rabbit. He is a house rabbit, but thinks he is a lap dog. He really "lives the life" here. Spoiled rotten! My Dad calls him "STEW". He is 6 and can live to be anywhere from 8-12 years old. Already I worry about what I am going to do when he passes. I know, crazy thinking. But that's me and my mentality. I worry about things I have no control over....and I worry about things that are years away. Hmmmm, maybe that is why my blood pressure is so high~ even being medicated.
Sorry for the long and dragged out thought......
