First of all, to all of you, thank you so much for the prayers and well wishes that have come our way since Billy left. Saying "so long" to him is by far the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life.. he needs to get his a** back home, NOW. I am happy to say that we have heard from him quite a bit since he left for Texas, not sure when he is scheduled to leave from there, but I am thankful for the small gift of "now."
A couple of you have asked some questions about the "farewell picture" (see 2 posts down). I have to admit upon seeing that picture, even I had to smile. I have been asked about the dent and the shoe...I will explain both, beginning with the dent.
Billy has always taken great pride in his cars. He buffs, polishes, and shines them. Makes them smell good, especially before a date. Two weeks before he was scheduled to leave, someone backed into his car. Well, not just anyone, Laura's sister. YIKES! I have to admit that he took it very well, I had visions of mayhem and murder, but he kinda just shrugged it off. I am afraid to say it but Garry is the only one that has not has a car rammed into by someone in the household, think I will have him park around the corner from now on..
Now about the shoe...
I have bad feet. There, I said it. My feet are constantly plagued with blisters, soreness, and ouches. Therefore, when I find a pair of comfortable shoes, I don't give them up easily. I keep them. Like a LONG time. Like maybe too long. Like maybe till they smell a lot a little. Okay, alot.
Not too long ago I was at work wearing the shoe you see in the picture. Someone that came in my office asked me what that "smell" was...I pretended I didn't smell it, and then proceeded to blame it on a co-worker, naturally. I decided that I guess it is time to get new shoes. So I did...however...
one of the shoes never made it into the garbage. It ended up..
in Laura's car..
in Garry's lunch bag...
under Laura's pillow..
in my pocketbook..
Laura's glove compartment..
hanging from my rearview mirror of my car..
You see where I am going with this.
Anyway, as Billy was leaving, he was emptying out his car, and opened his trunk.
Lo and behold..there was the shoe which he presented to me. It made us all laugh for a sec and forget what we had to do. He placed it on the car while he said goodbye to me.
I still have it, and yes, it is going to be sent to Iraq.
I hope it makes him smile...

I think sending it to Iraq is a great idea - and ouch on the car!

I was so focused on the people that I didn't even notice the details. (typical) I love the story of the shoe!

that f*cking shoe has travelled more than I have!
I think when you send it to Iraq it should be considered a weapon of mass destruction!
